FOUNDER, DESIGNER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Fatou — The Heart behind KULI
I was born abroad but grew up in Nigeria from the age of three, though I am originally from The Gambia. Growing up across these places shaped how I see the world and deepened my connection to African culture. I’ve loved streetwear for as long as I can remember, and I started designing when I was just 14. Over the years, I realized that so much streetwear lacks intention it’s style without meaning and I wanted to create something different.
In 2024, I founded KULI with a clear purpose: to build a brand that reconnects the African diaspora with Africa, celebrates our culture, and inspires people to care about its future. So I decided to create clothes that bridge my two passions streetwear and the key things I find beautiful and impactful in African culture. For me, the greatest impact comes when we, as the diaspora, come together to learn, share, and invest in Africa’s growth. KULI is my way of creating a space for a community of people who feel the same who love African culture, want to express that connection through fashion, and are excited to be part of something meaningful.
